 Your time and involvement  play a vital role in advancing our mission and elevating the  lives of children, teens, and young adults in the Hilltop  community. If you are eager to make a difference and ready to  invest your time in building a brighter future for our community,  we invite you to apply today.Our Volunteers receive COMP  Tickets to our productions and events, T.U.P.A.C. Branded Swag, have performance opportunities and a fun and festive  annual Volunteer Appreciation Party.  

  

We need  volunteers in the following areas to help us grow:  

Administration, Community Ambassadors, Special Events, Ballet and Stage Productions, Social Media Stars, Bartender/Concessions, Merchandising. The studio is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Classes are from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday’s 9 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. and the occasional Sunday. Performances, Special Events and off campus events may necessitate hours outside of those times


 All volunteer applications are reviewed with  consideration to current volunteer opportunities and all information will be  kept confidential.

Volunteer Position: School Performance Coordinator (SCP)

Reports to: School Director

JOB SUMMARY: Manages communication and logistics for all on T.U.P.A.C. School on & off campus demonstrations & performances.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives and evaluates performance requests,  coordinating details with school director.
  • Communicates terms and details with parents, teaching  artists, partners and venues, ensuring school needs are met.
  • Proactively seeks performance opportunities with  potential partners and venues.
  • Tracks   performance progress and ensures contract compliance and payments.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Experience with needs for diverse dance students.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic spreadsheet and word      processing applications.
  • Preferred      experience with project management and business contracts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must pass a background check.
  • Passion & Experience in the performing arts.
  • Passion & Experience working with BIPOC &      intergenerational artists.
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to DEI.

Volunteer Position:Associate Producer (AP)

Reports to: Producer, Director & Curator for T.U.P.A.C.’s Live Performance Productions 

VOLUNTEER SUMMARY: The AP supports T.U.P.A.C.’s Producer, Director & Curator in communications, maintaining high production standards and leading performers confidently during rehearsals and performances.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains      absolute confidentiality in all communications (will be working with professional      artists and creatives).
  • Relays      communications between producer, director, choreographer(s), guest      artists.
  • Assists      director during rehearsals and performances, leading rehearsals when      necessary.
  • Encourages      performers, boosts morale, and maintains a positive atmosphere.
  • Relays      instructions and coordinates logistics during performances.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Passion      & Experience in the performing arts.
  • Passion      & Experience working with BIPOC & intergenerational artists.
  • Strong      communication skills and commitment to DEI.
  • Ability      to remain calm under pressure, no anger issues.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Vision      abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, with the      ability to adjust focus.
  • May      involve pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying objects up to 35      pounds.
  • Noise      level varies but may be loud during performances.

Volunteer Position: Print Materials Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Assistant

JOB SUMMARY: Creates and coordinates printed promotional content and support materials for T.U.P.A.C. performances, ensuring accuracy, adherence to brand guidelines, and timely delivery.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate      creation of concert programs and other print materials such as fliers,      postcards, brochures, and posters.
  • Gather      and verify content from staff for materials.
  • Attend      monthly departmental meetings to collaborate on campaign generation.
  • Demonstrate      effective communication and interpersonal skills in alignment with      organization’s Mission and Core Values.
  • Adhere      to organization’s by-laws, policies, procedures, and member covenants.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Experience      drafting print content.
  • Graphic      design skills or familiarity with drag-and-drop design tools.
  • Ability      to create concise written content with specified tone and voice.
  • Proven      interpersonal and communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Requires      use of hands to handle objects and reach with hands and arms.
  • Vision      abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth      perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Volunteer Position: Electronics Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Assistant

JOB SUMMARY: Documents, tracks, and oversees the use of laptops, PC’s, projectors and other electronic equipment, ensuring accessibility and readiness for T.U.P.A.C. staff & volunteers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains      inventory of all electronic equipment, high-value materials via      spreadsheet - quantity, make and model, condition, location, instructional      manuals and replacement value.
  • Coordinates      equipment transfer between storage areas and studio & performance      venues.
  • Administers      and tracks laptop and electronic loans to staff & volunteers, ensuring      timely return and maintenance via spreadsheet.
  • Coordinates regular maintenance and      procurement of new equipment.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Strong      interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency      with electronic spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Repair and      basic hand tool skills.
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art      electronics and maintenance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must pass a      background check.
  • Requires      walking, talking, and hearing; use of hands to handle objects and reach.
  • Vision      abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, with      the ability to adjust focus.
  • May involve pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying objects up to 25 pounds.

Volunteer Position: Donor Cultivation Coordinator

Reports to:Executive & School Director

JOB SUMMARY:Engages donors through Tacoma Urban Performing Arts Center’s Donor Management System, fostering relationships and encouraging continued support through timely communications and acknowledgements.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Acknowledge first-time donors and continued large gift donors,      expressing appreciation on behalf of T.U.P.A.C.
  • Send annual donor receipts and notifications about fundraising      campaigns and performances.
  • Encourage donor activity to raise their level on the T.U.P.A.C. donors      chart.
  • Ensure accuracy of donor records and update profiles as needed.
  • Notify other staff of donors deserving leader acknowledgements.


KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:


  • Experience acknowledging donations or writing donor communications      preferred.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic spreadsheet and word processing      applications.
